Your oblique muscles are the muscles on the sides of your torso, bordering your abdominals. They power rotation of the spine. You have a pair of obliques on each side, an external oblique to rotate you one way and the internal oblique to assist in rotating the other way.
I love side planks because they get both external and internal obliques firing against each other to stabilize you. This move is great for any rotational sports such as golf, baseball, discus, hammer, javelin, football, soccer, rugby and so on. We rotate in pretty much all sports.
Today’s challenge is a total time challenge. Watch the video and perform the side plank along with the Side Plank – Slim Waist Strong Body Video. Each time you complete the video you will have completed 2 minutes of side planks. To pass the challenge, you need to complete it once. For a bronze complete it 3 times and 4 times for silver. For the gold you have to complete the video 5 times for a total of 10 minutes of side planks. Today’s challenge is a tough one.
