Project Awesome

Project AwesomeWelcome to my latest idea … Project Awesome!!! So to explain Project Awesome I have written a kind of Q & A session to myself that should cover a lot of it. Worry not, though; all should become clear en route to awesomeness!

What is Project Awesome?

It is an idea that had a while back after researching some of the world’s most successful people: athletes, businessmen, entrepreneurs and such. These high-achieving people all have similar habits. They are very clear about what they want to achieve. They set goals and plan how to achieve them. They work tirelessly to achieve these goals.

Project Awesome is me doing just that for my golf game. I will describe exactly what I want to achieve. Set up goals both long and short term to lead me where I want to get to. Hold myself accountable to everyone who reads my posts. Work at my goals until they are achieved.

What will I be doing?

I will be posting with a weekly update of my progress. I will write a weekly goal or goals and describe how I achieved them. I will include time spent practicing on each aspect of the game, what I did, time spent in the gym, my workouts, where I played, stats, scores and my summary of the week.

Why am I doing this?

I aim to achieve several things by committing to this project.

  1. By reporting all my efforts, progress and plans, I hold myself accountable to whoever reads my posts. It will be a lot harder for me to skip workouts, change my practice schedule or lose focus.
  2. A big goal for this project is, of course, for me to improve my scores and competitive performance.
  3. This project will also force me to plan, think ahead and set goals for my practice. I feel this could be a key concept to speed up my progress.
  4. Finally, with this project, I hope to improve my coaching skills through learning better and more effective ways to practice. I will be the guinea pig for these ideas and post my findings about them. The most effective ways I will pass on through my own coaching. You may find some of my training useful for your game.

How long will Project Awesome Last?

I will commit to posting on Project Awesome for the remainder of 2013. My hope is that Project Awesome will be successful all round. If that is the case, why stop?

What will be the hardest thing for me?

Posting scores! I have my reputation on the line here! I know as I’m writing this that I will be posting scores in the future I will be proud of, others that I’m downright disgusted with. Although this may be the scariest part for me, I also think I can learn a lot from doing this. Currently I feel I am scoring higher than my ability…………….the same as every other golfer around! But I know I can get to where I need to be.

When are the updates coming?

I will post a weekly review and plan for the coming week every Thursday. I hope to see you here next week!
